Newcastle Track Cycling Association held their annual prize presentation at St John Fisher High School last Friday night. There was a great turn out of riders and families at this vent which also included a small programme of roller racing for the under 16’s.
All the awards were presented by Track League sponsor Tony Brooks of Brooks Cycles and Chairman Rick Notley. Tony also announced that he will be sponsoring the league next year which is very much appreciated by the organising team
All the awards were presented with each winner receiving warm applause. Flowers were presented to league officials Nesta Stubbs, Sue Notley, Sue Jones and Caroline Birchall for all their help this year. The final award was presented to League Treasurer Sue Robinson in appreciation of her 50 years service. Sue started at the track in 1959 as a 5 year old helping her dad who was one of the organisers. She has never missed a season since then helping out with various duties resulting in her taking over as the treasurer in 1976. Sue received an inscribed rose bowl and a bouquet of roses. Without people like Sue the track association would not exist and the rousing reception that she received from the audience showed how much she is appreciated.
The league now looks forward to next year when the track league commences again on the 29th April 2010. We look forward to seeing everyone again down at the Lyme Valley for another season of exciting racing.

skills to more track skills on grass. Once the riders are adjudged to be competitant they will
be passed on to the track coaches to take on to the track.

Cost: u16 - £3, Senior - £4, Bike Hire - £2 (free for u16)
Tuesday Night 6-30pm to Late:
Seniors Training Night - expert tuition from our
Sprint and Endurance Specific Coaches including Derny Paced Efforts

Go-Ride Activites

The sessions will be aimed at children who cannot yet ride the track, with mainly the under 10s
targetted, but also any older riders who need some extra bike skills
before riding on the track.
The Go-Ride activities will include riding around
cones, under limbo bars and various other skill based routes. We feel that this
will attract a number of riders who compete at the Freewheelers League
Riders will be asked to bring their own bikes which can be MTB, Road or BMX along
with a suitable helmet. The cost for the session will be £2 and will start at
6.30pm lasting around 1 hour to 1 hour 30 mins
