Newcastle Track Cycling Association (NTCA)

Pritchard and Emadi Midsummer Stars

The rain slowed the proceedings down at the start of the event, but then things warmed up and we had some fantastic racing down at Newcastle under Lyme Track. The big event of the day was the Brian Rourke Cycles National Sprinters League one of only four this year. Local boy Kian Emadi of Brian Rourke Cycles still only a Junior rode a brilliant 200m time trial to qualify 1st fastest and then went on to come second overall in his own sponsors event.

In the other National event the 20km Endurance League 20km five riders broke away towards the end of the race and stayed away despite a fast pace from a large bunch. Bryan Taylor of VC Londres jumped away with a lap to go to win from local rider Andrew Magnier of Planet X. Again Kian Emadi of Brian Rourke Cycles showed that he is not just a sprint specialist to come third.

In the “www.velodrome.org.uk” Sprint Championship Final Ben Elliott / VC St Raphael beat John McClelland/Agiskoviner.com and 3rd John Williams / Edinburgh RC

Training

Monday Night 6-30pm to Late:
Juniors, Veterans and Beginners (Go-Ride Activites)
On your first night, Beginners need to bring with them a mountain bike or road bike. They will then have to complete a grass track session under the guidance of Paul Swinnerton which will be track skills based. This is for all age groups so a move away from the Go-Ride skills to more track skills on grass. Once the riders are adjudged to be competitant they will be passed on to the track coaches to take on to the track.

Coaches: Chris Pyatt, Paul Barber, Martyn Shaw, Paul Swinnerton
Cost: u16 - £3, Senior - £4, Bike Hire - £2 (free for u16)

Tuesday Night 6-30pm to Late:
Seniors Training Night - expert tuition from our
Sprint and Endurance Specific Coaches
including Derny Paced Efforts
Steve Cronshaw, Dave Smith, Steve Clayton, Rik Notley, Karen Byrne (Women's Coaching)

Go-Ride Activites

George Shaw

The sessions will be aimed at children who cannot yet ride the track, with mainly the under 10s targetted, but also any older riders who need some extra bike skills before riding on the track.

The Go-Ride activities will include riding around cones, under limbo bars and various other skill based routes. We feel that this will attract a number of riders who compete at the Freewheelers League

Riders will be asked to bring their own bikes which can be MTB, Road or BMX along with a suitable helmet. The cost for the session will be £2 and will start at 6.30pm lasting around 1 hour to 1 hour 30 mins
