Inter-Club Challenge Proves a Great Success

Rollers

Track/Crit Inter-Club: we all had a great day with 25 riders from NTCA taking part in the Track events and 28 in the criterium. Everyone rode superbly and they can all be proud of their achivements. There was also a healthly contingent of parents who attended and they supported the riders with great enthusiasm. The highlight was the team sprint where two of our teams placed first and second which shows that our riders are well drilled in this team events after numerous practice sessions down at the Lyme Valley track. The Crit was on the new circuit next to Manchester City Football ground with wins coming from Tomos Owen in the U12 boys event,Sophie Capewell in the U12 girls, Joe Evans in the U14 boys from teammate Jacob Kelly, Paige Millward in the U14 girls and Alex Simmons in the junior race. The Final Scores saw Eastlands win with 194 points from Newcastle with 111. Isle of Man were third on 77 points.

Special thanks go to coaches Martyn Shaw, Phil Houlton and Nigel Capewell who helped me throughout this morning and afternoon event.

This years event has been the best one since we started the Inter-Club Challenges 8 years ago and everyone has agreed to repeat the series of three races again next year Track/Crit Interclub Results

NTCA Handicap League

Neil Potter has kindly offered to sponsor the Handicap League this year. As a result the prizes will be as follows;

1st £50, 2nd £30, 3rd £20.

This is a fantastic gesture to the track by Neil and one that is very much appeciated by the NTCA committee and its riders.This cash prize should help encourage some close and fierce racing this year at the league for one of the top three prizes. There are 9 events throughout the season with the first one being on the 29th April at the seasons opener. they will then be run alternately each week with the Keirin league.

Go-Ride Activites

George Shaw

The sessions will be aimed at children who cannot yet ride the track, with mainly the under 10s targetted, but also any older riders who need some extra bike skills before riding on the track.

The Go-Ride activities will include riding around cones, under limbo bars and various other skill based routes. We feel that this will attract a number of riders who compete at the Freewheelers League

Riders will be asked to bring their own bikes which can be MTB, Road or BMX along with a suitable helmet. The cost for the session will be £2 and will start at 6.30pm lasting around 1 hour to 1 hour 30 mins
