Hill the Star as Keirin League Shines![]() The highlight of week 2 of the Brooks
Cycles Track League was the Velodrome.org.uk sponsored round 1 of the Keirin
League. After two keenly contested heats the final six riders put on a great
display of speed and skill over this 3 lap event. As the pacer pulled off, Dave
LeGrys launched an impressive attack to gain three lengths of his rivals.
However as the riders entered the home straight the ever impressive Steven Hill
judged his effort to perfection to win by half a length from Kian Emadi. Kian
was the top points scorer on the night in the A Class events as he won the
Devil and the 30 lap Scratch. The B Class events again saw a two way
battle between youth riders Declan Byrne and Alex Simmons with Declan winning
three events to Alex’s one. Declan moves up next week to the A Class with Alex
likely to follow him within a few weeks. With both riders under 16 years of age
this clearly shows the success of the youth development programme at the track. The C Class event saw a fine win by Mike
Dean in the 6 lap scratch. Mike is back riding this season after a number of
years away from racing with his first season being way back in 1980. The youth events saw the points well
spread over seven riders. Early season leader Sassan Emadi was the top scorer
with six points. The Freewheelers League saw 19 riders
contest the 12 races with the top scorers in each group being, Group 1 Sam
Green, Group 2 Josh Davis and Group 3 Aleshia Mellor. |
