Newcastle Track Cycling Association - Brooks Cycles Track League

Magnier in Dominant Form

Andrew Magnier

Fresh from his bronze medal in the National Derny Championships the previous weekend, reigning A Class Champion Andrew Magnier took full advantage of the absence of the top two in the league tables to score 12 points. He was in dominant form to win all four A Class events. His most impressive was the final 30 lap scratch event where his bursts of speed dropped all but Stephen Barrett. With the two half a lap up on the rest of the field Magnier started his sprint late to win by a clear bike length.

The latest round of Brooks Cycles 500m Handicap league saw a superb effort from long marker Matt Webb as he held off a fast gaining group of riders. Second was recently crowned double European Sprint and Team Sprint Masters Champion Steve Cronshaw from fellow Master Steve Clayton.

The B class event saw Matthew Rotherham win the opening scratch event and the Kieren to score seven points on the night. The youth events saw twelve riders taking part with current leader Sam Birchall top scoring with 8 points. Noteworthy mentions must to the top three in the block handicap with Lyme RC trio Imogen Crooks winning from Alex Webb and Paige Milward.

The Freewheelers events saw a great attendance of nineteen riders take part with the top points scorers on the night being in Group 1 Alex Webb, Group 2 Matt Barnett and Group 3 Megan Wynn Results
