1st July 2010: With the forecast of rain for the evening hopes were not high of any racing at all for the latest round of the Newcastle-under-Lyme Track League at Lyme Valley Stadium. However the rain held off until the final 10 mile event which had to be stopped at half distance as the heavens opened.

The A Class events saw Declan Byrne start to make his move on the overall league table. His main targets this year has been on the road however the increase in speed work over the past few weeks is starting to show as he scored wins in the 10 lap scratch and the Course de Primes. He was also a member of the winning Team Sprint Team.

The Neil Potter sponsored 500m Handicap League saw long marker Tim Hull, Lyme RC hold on impressively to his advantage to take the win from Barney Swinnerton, Lyme Rc and Ryan Whatmough, Shepherd Cycles.

Go-Ride Activites

George Shaw

The sessions will be aimed at children who cannot yet ride the track, with mainly the under 10s targetted, but also any older riders who need some extra bike skills before riding on the track.

The Go-Ride activities will include riding around cones, under limbo bars and various other skill based routes. We feel that this will attract a number of riders who compete at the Freewheelers League

Riders will be asked to bring their own bikes which can be MTB, Road or BMX along with a suitable helmet. The cost for the session will be £2 and will start at 6.30pm lasting around 1 hour to 1 hour 30 mins
